Sport & Extra-curricular

Beyond the Classroom

Sport and extra-curricular activities play a vital role in a child’s overall development.

They help learners build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and resilience, while encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle.

Beyond physical benefits, these activities teach valuable life skills such as time management, perseverance, and respect for others, and provide opportunities for children to discover new interests and talents outside the classroom.

Sport Codes

At Alberview Primary, sport forms an integral part of school life and offers learners the opportunity to participate, grow, and discover their strengths beyond the classroom.

We offer a wide range of sport codes, including athletics, badminton, chess, cricket, cross-country, football, hockey, netball, rugby, and swimming, and are proud to be one of the few schools in Alberton with an on-site swimming pool.

Our Foundation Phase learners are introduced to sport through a variety of age-appropriate mini-sport programmes, including mini-cricket, mini-football, mini-hockey, mini-netball, and mini-rugby, ensuring early skill development, enjoyment, and a strong foundation for future participation.

Other Extra Curricular Programs

In addition to sport, Alberview Primary offers a range of cultural and creative extra-curricular activities that allow learners to express themselves and develop confidence beyond the classroom.

These include choir, Eisteddfod participation, and our marimba band, providing opportunities for learners to explore music, performance, and the arts.

Choir

The Alberview Primary Choir is open to learners in Grades 4 to 7 and offers a rewarding opportunity to develop musical skills, teamwork, and confidence. Choir participation is a full-year commitment, encouraging dedication, discipline, and a shared sense of pride through performance.

Eisteddfod

At Alberview Primary, we proudly encourage and support learners who participate in the Alberton Eisteddfod, an annual cultural festival that typically takes place from July to September.

The Eisteddfod offers learners the opportunity to showcase their talents across a wide range of categories.

Participation helps build confidence, creativity, and a love for the arts, while celebrating each learner’s unique abilities.

Marimba

The Alberview Primary Marimba Band is open to learners in Grades 4 to 7 and offers a vibrant introduction to rhythm, teamwork, and musical performance. Participation is a full-year commitment, with learners proudly performing at school events such as awards ceremonies and other special occasions.
